FIVE NOMINEES FOR "ROOKIES OF THE YEAR AWARD 2010"

During Stockholm Fashion Week, five candidates out of twelve have been nominated for "Rookies of the Year Award 2010". Rahnsäter, Seika Lee, billy and I, The White Briefs and Ida Pyk.


In a special event on February 18th the nominees were chosen by the Rookies jury after convincingly shown that they are on their way to establish a promising and interesting brand on the Swedish fashion scen. They all have a strong design idea, high sewing quality, production facilities and thoughtful business plans. The coming months will be the basis for assessing how the brands developes.

One of the five nominees will be announced winner of  "Rookies of the Year Award 2010 " during Stockholm Fashion Week in August.

 

The price includes a scholarship of 20 000 SEK from Swedish Trade Federation, the challenge prize "Black Panther" designed by Asa Jungnelius of Kosta Boda and a full page ad in DV Mode. In addition, the winner also gets the opportunity to create a collection to the French concept of "un pavé dans la mode" / La Redoute.

This year's jury included: Ulrika Nilsson - JUS, Johan Magnusson - Fashionisto.se, Sara Lönnroth - Konstfack / Transit, Remi Colas - La Redoute, Margareta Van Den Bosch - H & M, and Marianne Randolph - Project Manager Rookies and jury chairman.

The collections of the twelve Rookies candidates, including the five nominees for "Rookies of the Year 2010", are presented in the Rookies Showroom on 19-21 February, Gallery So Stockholm, Kungsträdgården.

Previous winners of the title "Rookies of the Year" are; fashion label Dagmar (2005), jewelry company Dada's Diamonds (2006), van Deurs (2007), Uniforms for the Dedicated (2008) and Patouf (2009).

 

The industry-owned Swedish Fashion Council promotes the Swedish fashion and textile industry and operates various fashion-related projects, as coordination of Stockholm Fashion Week, and Rookies - A non-profit project with the ambition to support and promote the establishment of new fashion brands and designers in Sweden and abroad.
